Richland County Veterans Service
Veterans Service Commission
In 1886, the Ohio legislature established the Soldiers Relief Commission, renamed the Veterans Service Commission in 1986, for the purpose of assisting Honorably Discharged Veterans and their minor children, spouse and widows, who have met with an unexpected hardship resulting from lack of employment, illness, or injury. Each of the 88 counties in ohio has an office, with operating expenses provided through county real estate taxes.
We have two departments - Service Department and Financial Aid Department, provide transportation to the VA Medical Centers, and oversee the Veterans Honor Grounds in Mansfield Cemetery.
